Pink House - Pink Flowers
Charleston has more than it's share of colorful homes. The pink ones are my favorite. And I love the Crepe Myrtle blooming right next door!

Lowcountry History
There is so much history in the lowcountry and some of it is still standing. I love this old house with the wrap around porch and the red tin roof. If you click on it and enlarge it, it is even better!

Details
I love the detail of this architecture in this downtown home. I wonder how many man hours it took to create it.

Columns
I love the columns on this house. So Charleston. See how each level has different style columns? that was the custom.

Firecracker Bill
This isn't just ANY little red house. This is Firecracker Bill's. Crackers is on Hwy 17 in Mount Pleasant and is an institution in fireworks! This is where anyone who is anyone gets their fireworks all year long. I pass this every day and it makes me smile to live where I live. NEVER, ever would you see something like this in San Diego!!

White Grillwork
Grillwork is usually - almost always - black. So this white grillwork grabbed my attention. Right or wrong, I love it! What a beautifully intricate design!

Steps
This is just a small sample of some of the steps you see on the homes downtown. I need to collect more!

Street Numbers
I have always wanted to have a one or two digit street address. I think this is as close as I will ever get. I love the ones on the lovely homes downtown.

Brick and Plaster
This old house that has been renovated is really interesting. You can see the old brick that was used in the early construction. Back when the house was originally built it was common to construct it of brick and then overlay that with plaster, scoring it to look like stone. This home shows both the brick and the plaster which is unusual - but fun and interesting!

Aches and Columns - Charleston Style
I just don't tire of the variety of columns that I find around town. Would you like to join me on this porch for a nice cold iced tea?

Hampton Plantation
About 40 miles north of Charleston sits Hampton Plantation. Built in the mid 1700's, George Washington visited in 1791 and stood on that porch. He suggested that the large oak tree you see NOT be cut down even though it blocked the view of the race track. It is still there in all it's glory.

Four Stories
This home looks so interesting. Wouldn't you like to climb to the 4th floor and see what is up there? I would!

Window Perfection
I think this is the nicest window in all of downtown Charleston! I love everything about it - even the peeling paint - but mostly the leaded glass with the boat behind it! Love it!
