This Canna if is in my daughter's yard. I think I need to plant some of these!

Halfway Creek Chapel
We were out at Francis Marion National Forest and just stumbled upon this old, chapel/church. Halfway Creek Road is so sparsely traveled that when we passed this I yelled for Kirby to stop, which he did, and then he proceeded to back up all the way it took for him to react and stop! There was no one around to care if he did this!
I can't find any history on this church or the connected cemetery but I did learn that there is a Halfway Creek Church in Wisconsin with a cemetery.

Beach Scene
I just couldn't resist this 'real life in action' photo. And, though not a fan of tattoos, her little star is quite nice.

Drinking Fountain
Do you remember when we used drinking fountains all the time? It really sounds disgusting to me now! Drinking where hoards of other have. Well, the birds don't seem to mind at all. I am not a fan of pigeons but this one was so clever that I rather liked him. There was just a bead of water escaping and he found it!

Folly Beach in the Summer
Typical of beach communities, Folly Beach becomes very crowded in the summer but is quiet in the winter. This day was cloudy and cool for this time of year but the crowds were still there.

Can't See the Forest
I have to wonder how the early settlers even survived in the Lowcountry. Even trees seem to grow like weeds here and the forests are so thick you can't walk through them.

St. Matthew's Lutheran Church
Viewed from Marion Square |
St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, founded in 1840 by a group of Germans
who wished to worship in their native language, quickly outgrew its
original building at Hasell and Anson Streets in Charleston.
The congregation moved into its current building in 1872. The small congregation could never have envisioned its growth to become South Carolina's largest Lutheran church at the beginning of the 21st century.

High and Dry
We found this on Wadmalaw Island. Do you think a hurricane put it there? I have no idea but it could have just washed it right up on the island and there it stayed. That was a nice boat at one time!
