Window Perfection

I think this is the nicest window in all of downtown Charleston!  I love everything about it - even the peeling paint - but mostly the leaded glass with the boat behind it!  Love it!

The Not So Pretty - And Old!

Sort of like me - not so pretty and old! It happens to the best of us. Even though these homes are old and in need of a little clean-up, fix-up, paint-up, I think they have charm and I really enjoy them! Hope you do too!

Shutter Law

I think there must be a law that I didn't hear about that says all shutters in the Lowcountry must be black!  That is cool, the shutters on our house just happen to be black.  But I remember seeing some that were green, and maroon too.  Oh, dear, someone must be breaking the law! Shutter Law!!
After the pink house that I posted yesterday ( with black shutters of course), this one is my favorite. I love what they have done. And don't you just LOVE the South Carolina flag? I think it is the best state flag there is!  OK, you can't really see it but I will look for another picture of it that you can see.  It is cool with the little moon and the palm tree.

Magnolia Cemetery in Color

You would think you were on a beautiful southern plantation when you first arrive and see this.  Actually this is the sight of a former rice plantation and it is still so gorgeous even as a cemetery!

The trees here have been battered through the decades by hurricanes - but the are still majestic!
The beautiful Magnolia Blossom reigns here!

Magnolia Cemetery

It just seemed fitting to view all these pictures in black and white. We visited Charleston's oldest public cemetery, Magnolia, and were thrilled by the beauty of the trees and the peacefulness in the air.

Click on the pictures and enlarge them.  Much better that way!

The cemetery holds 84 bodies of South Carolinians who fell at Gettysburg and were reinterred at Magnolia. It is such a moving site to see.
I thoroughly enjoyed all the beautiful hand made ironwork!  I couldn't get enough of it and took way too many pictures!

Cypress Gardens

Cypress Gardens is such a special place.  When we were there last month, the flowers had hardly begun to bloom.  May and June get even better.  But just look at what we did see!

I don't know what these flowers are - but I do know they are lovely.  Many of them were in the butterfly house.
Well, I do know bananas when I see them!

And I know that these are Azaleas
Can you see the little bee that was so busy?

This is the amazing Blue Bottle Bush!  Click on it to enlarge so that  you can really enjoy it! :)
