Room with a View

Now this is my kind of a view!  Overlooking the marsh and the wildlife that lives there from your chair in the early morning light!  Not really the beach but the sand is so inviting.

Spring Flowers

This picture is almost a year old but I needed to look at it as a promise that winter won't last forever!  We will have this reward in just a few weeks time!  Hang on - Spring is coming!

Don Holt Bridge

One of my favorite things on my drive to work each day is the Don Holt Bridge. I know it doesn't look like much in this picture but in the mornings, when the sun is just rising behind me, I look in my rear view mirror and what I see is an amazing geometric artwork! The girders are black and the sun is golden! And then I look off to my right and there is the paper factory with lights still twinkling at me like a fairy castle. This picture was taken from the Riverfront Park in North Charleston. I love my city!

Riverfront Park, North Charleston

How exciting for me!  I found a new-to-me park today.  Riverfront Park in North Charleston is on the banks of the Cooper River on the old Navy Base.  (You have to remember that I am a transplant to the Charleston area and therefore exploring it is an adventure!)

Riverfront Park is home to the Greater Charleston Naval Base Memorial, erected in honor of the countless military personnel and civilians that served the United States and the Greater Charleston region while the Charleston Navy Base was operational. The Memorial is the only location in the United States that displays both the Lone Sailor and the Homecoming statues.
I loved this so much that I had to do a close-up!  What emotion Stanley Bleifeld was able to get into his sculpture!
As happy as The Homecoming is, The Lone Sailor is sad and lonely as he waits to board his ship.

Reflections

Reflections are just about my favorite things to take pictures of.  And just look at this one.  Almost the whole picture is a reflection in the pond!

Egret

I absolutely love the new zoom lens Kirby got me for Christmas.  It is great for wildlife. This guy was hunting and never even saw me!

High Tide

I think this is my favorite picture from my most recent visit to Magnolia Gardens.  Of course it is high tide in this picture and since this is a tidal creek, it wouldn't be so appealing if the tide was out....lots of pluff mud!

Respect

This guys was just way too up close and personal for our comfort so we decided to show him the respect he was due and turn around and go back the way we had come from - after I got my picture of course!  And there was another one just a few feet away from this one....it really was an alligator day!

Best Buds

We see this all the time here in the Lowcountry.  Alligators and turtles just seem to love each other.  They are always sharing the sunning boards.
